1. Moving Toy

What’s needed to do this activity

Baby soft toy or a large Car/Bus/Train, Long string

How to do the activity  

Tie one end of the string to a toy (Soft toy or a large car/bus/train) and keep the other loose end out of sight of the baby. The other end could be in another room or away from the baby’s view. Encourage the baby to ‘catch’ the toy. While the baby approaches the toy, either of you should control the movement of the toy by pulling the string. Keep drawing the string around the room inspiring your baby to follow the toy. You may have to demonstrate this to the baby yourself.

2. Simon Says

What’s needed to do this activity

“Lots of Love”

How to do the activity  

Play ‘Simon says’ with your baby. Give simple commands. It is a simple way to teach body parts, colours, numbers etc. For example, “Simon says touch your toes”, “Simon says give me two pillows”, “Simon says bring three red balls”. The baby must follow the instruction given with “Simon says..”. You may have to demonstrate it yourself to the baby.

3. Flower Collect

What’s needed to do this activity

Flowers that float, Baby bathtub and small baby bucket

How to do the activity  

Fill the baby’s bathtub with water and float some flowers in it. Ask the baby to collect the flowers and put them in a bucket. When all the flowers have been put in the bucket, tell the baby to put all of them back in the bathtub. You can let the baby carry on with this as long as s/he wants to. Have fun seeing the baby engage intensely with the flowers.
