1. Rescue Mission

What’s needed to do this activity

Baby’s toys, Scotch Tape or Velcro

How to do the activity

With the help of Scotch Tape or Velcro, stick the toys on a hardboard or any hard surface. Now ask the baby to remove the tape or Velcro to retrieve the toys. You may want to add a story around a rescue mission or anything else that you prefer. Some toys stuck at a height can be slightly difficult for the baby to reach. Notice how the baby stands on his/her toes to gain height so that s/he can reach for the toy. Always be around when the baby is trying to reach out for the toys.

2. Light Or Heavy

What’s needed to do this activity

Three toys of different weights

How to do the activity

Take three toys different in weight, say a soft toy, a ball and a heavier toy (car). Give the light and medium toy to the baby to hold one on each hand and help the baby identify the heavier of the two. Now take the light toy back and give the heaviest toy in that hand of the baby. Once again help the baby identify the heavier of the two. With few repetitions the baby will start appreciating the concept of light and heavy, and telling that this is heavy. Build on it in your conversations with the baby.
