It will not be an exaggeration to say that most if not all parents would like to see their children leading happy lives above anything else. But happiness itself is a complex subject and must be discussed in the right context. A great place to start a discussion in our course would be to ask a question: What would you rather wish as your child\u2019s life goal?<\/p>\n

To be in pursuit of happiness? <\/strong>

To find happiness in whatever they pursue?<\/strong><\/p>\n

And before you answer that question, let\u2019s highlight that an increasing number of scientific researches indicate that the key to happiness is emotional and social competence of an individual. It lies in one\u2019s ability to interact constructively with others, to positively communicate one\u2019s feelings, to regulate their own behaviour while influencing the behaviours of others. So the inference is that most of the times happiness is an internal variable and it may depend more on an individual\u2019s abilities rather than their circumstances.<\/p>\n

Renowned psychologist Daniel Goleman, who authored the book \u2018Emotional Intelligence\u2019, concludes \u201cThe most effective leaders are all alike in one crucial way: They all have a high degree of what has come to be known as emotional intelligence.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

In fact, studies attribute 85% of the results for an effective leader to their emotional and social intelligence. And if we agree that happiness is internal to a person and combine it with the fact that 0-3 years is perhaps the most important development window in a human being\u2019s life, we can make a case for parents doing right things in the widow lay the foundation of a happy life for their children.<\/p>\n
